WAPC statements

The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is the peak representative body of land use planning and development in our State.

Our regional planning system is one of the most developed anywhere in Australia. It undertakes a major coordinating role across all aspects of the State's planning process and operates as a partnership between the community, business and all levels and sectors of government.

It has operated for almost fifty years providing continuity and impartiality.

The WAPC is a statutory authority and is one of the agencies in the Planning and Infrastructure portfolio created by the State Government to integrate land use and transport planning.

The WAPC operates with the support of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure which provides professional and technical expertise, administrative support and resources to advise the WAPC and implement its decisions.

The WAPC reports to the
Minister for Planning and Infrastructure

Residential lot approvals

During the December 2007 quarter the WAPC gave final approval to 3374 lots in the metropolitan area and Peel region and 1368 lots in country areas; totalling 4742 lots statewide.

Final approval is when the WAPC confirms the subdivision conditions have been met which allows the issue of land titles.
