Network City is the strategic framework for guiding Perth and Peel to a sustainable future. The guiding theme is managing growth by sharing responsibility between industry, community and government. It's about planning better and smarter to meet the challenges of climate change, water, oil and resource depletion, at the same time catering for the demands of rapid population growth driven by a strong economy and increased affluence.
The WAPC and DPI are committed to the sustainable growth of Perth, curbing urban sprawl and catering for changing economic conditions and lifestyles.
The major outcomes of Network City are:
- Activity centres - locations where a range of living, employment, retail, recreation, entertainment, education and community service activities are encouraged.
- Activity corridors - connections between activity centres that provide excellent, high frequency public transport.
- Transport corridors - routes for high speed traffic, in particular truck routes and express bus services.
