Cockburn coast district structure plan
Home > Public comment

The public comment period has been extended until Monday 13 October 2008

The Cockburn coast project is a unique opportunity to revitalise a forgotten industrial coastal strip, with a primary focus on the South Fremantle power station and surrounding underutilised land.

A key step in transforming the area into a thriving, vibrant and accessible new community has been the development of the draft Cockburn coast district structure plan.

Prepared in response to the Vision for Cockburn coast dialogue (May 2005), the plan provides a framework for the evolution of the industrial area to a sustainable, mixed use urban environment, which embodies the philosophy of Network City and encourages a new way of coastal living.

Following extensive input into the plan’s development by the Cockburn coast reference group, comprising stakeholders, landowners and local community members, the Western Australian Planning Commission now seeks further community input on the proposal.

Further information on the background and development of the draft district structure plan can be found here.
