The Strata Titles Amendment Act came into effect on 14 April 1996. This Act substantially amends the Strata Titles Act 1985, including:
- changing the way the WAPC deals with existing forms of strata title;
- introducing a new form of strata title; and
- providing new instruments and mechanisms for the management of strata schemes.
Strata lots, in their current form (incorporating buildings, common property, or vacant strata lots) will continue to exist. The ability to create, deal with and manage them will remain. The role played by the WAPC in regard to proposals which contain buildings only (with no proposed vacant lots) is unchanged.
