The state planning framework unites existing state and regional policies, strategies and guidelines within a central framework which provides a context for decision-making on land use and development in Western Australia.

It informs the WAPC, local government and others involved in the planning process on those aspects of state level planning policy which are to be taken into account, and given effect to, in order to ensure integrated decision-making across all spheres of planning.
